Candy Elections!!

We have so many exciting things going on this week! Today we completed our 3rd grade Election PBL. The kids and staff voted for either the Chocolate (Kit Kat and Hershey) or Chewy (Sour Patch and Gummy Worms) party. Mrs. Rock (Sour Patch) and Mr. Camp (Kit Kat) did a great job serving as our two presidential candidates. The votes are in and later this afternoon the students will hear the candidates acceptance/concession speech. Thank you so much to our two administrators for helping us out. The students, and myself, really enjoyed hearing their campaign speeches this morning in the gym. Be sure and ask your child when you see him/her who won the election.

The purpose of our PBL was to educate our third graders in what it takes to be elected into office. The students chose committees to serve on and have been working hard for their chosen party to help get them elected. Some of the committees that students served on were; making posters and commercials (they used an app called Chatterpix), writing speeches, making buttons, constructing and decorating the polling booths, and making a campaigning word wall complete with vocabulary and definitions.

We will be uploading some pictures from today to our blogs soon so be on the lookout!  Here is a pic of Mrs. Casey and I showing off our ” I Voted” stickers.  It was a fun day for all of us!

Helloooooo…….

Who has follow off the blogging wagon?!!!  That would be me!  I am so sorry that I have let this go to the back of my priorities!  I am back on and will do a better job from here on out!

We have our Spelling Test this week.

Thank you for being so patience in learning the way we test our kiddos in third grade.  Next Friday October 6 will be the vocabulary test.  We alternate weeks so they have 2 weeks to study new spelling words and new vocabulary.  On Mondays they will be given new spelling words or new vocabulary depending on the week.  This is the reason you haven’t seen reading homework coming home yet.  This takes some getting used to and we want our students to feel successful in learning this rotation.

Here are GREAT resources that you can use to practice at home with Spelling and Vocab..
